:About Us

We are a UNESCO water science related center which fulfills its mission under the auspices of this organization. The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran formally submitted to UNESCO a detailed proposal for the establishment of the International Center on Integrated Watershed Management and Biological Resources in arid and semi-arid regions (ICIMWB) in the Islamic Republic of Iran under the auspices of UNESCO, which finally met with the 38th session of the General Conference of UNESCO’s approval. According to this approval, an agreement on the establishment of the center was signed by the director general of UNESCO and Iran’s minister of Jahad agriculture on October 2020. Following that agreement, the office of the center set up in Forest, Rangeland and watershed management Organization (FRWO) in the Islamic Republic of Iran on April 2021

:Missions and Objectives

The main objective of the International Center on Integrated Watershed Management and Biological Resources in arid and semi-arid regions (ICIMWB) is emphasis on generate knowledge and scientific information on eco-hydrology for Bio resources management in watersheds and training in all aspects of ICIMWB.
Also, improving integrated watershed management through enhancing inter sectoral coordination is the main mission of ICIMWB

The mission of the center shall be to:
Promote theoretical, experimental and applied research in fields of land, soil and water interactions and climate change
Conduct research focused on the interdisciplinary aspects of integrated watershed management.
Create and reinforce a Cooperative Information Network (CIN).
Enhance capacity building and promote partnership through cooperation in technical and science research projects
Disseminate the results of research
Facilitate the development of inter institutional and multi-national research and educational activities
Provide technical consulting and advisory services in the region and beyond, as required
Promote communication among water-related centers and other international organizations
Produce technical publications and other media items related to the activities of the Centre
:Governing Board
According to the agreement on the establishment of ICIMWB signed between Director General of UNESCO and minister of Jahad agriculture of Islamic Republic of Iran:
The International Center shall be administered by a Governing Board composed of
:

●the head of FRWO is the representative government as the chairperson of the Governing Board
●a representative of the Director General of UNESCO
●representative of member states, and associate member of UNESCO which have sent to the center notification for membership, in accordance with the stipulations of article 10, and have expressed interest in being represented on the Board

representatives of international of organizations and research and academic centers in the field of the center’s activities, which have sent to the center notification for membership, in accordance with the stipulations of article 10, and to which a seat by a decision of the Governing Board has been accorded

the director of the center, as an observer without the right to vote
